The officers and members of Nunda Masonic Lodge # 169, Order of Eastern Star Nunda Chapter # 293, Frank S. Land DeMolay, and Bethel # 98 Job’s Daughters gave thanks on Thanksgiving Day to those young men and women who are sacrificing their precious time so that we can enjoy the many blessings and freedoms our great country has to offer.
We were proud to participate in the Great Lakes Naval Training Center’s Adopt-a-Sailor Program on Thanksgiving Day. Nunda Masonic Lodge # 169 hosted 25 naval recruits.
Through various donations, Nunda members made available ipads and laptops enabling the recruits to reconnect with loved ones. We also provided a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, pool games and a relaxing environment for the day. It was a joyful occasion for these fine young men and women to spend time away from the pressures associated with basic training, enjoy a well-cooked meal and homemade goodies, and relax in a stress-free environment.
More importantly, these young people were able to call home on what is the first of many holidays away from family. Nunda Lodge is grateful for the opportunity to salute the recruits from the Great Lakes Naval Station and participate the Adopt-A-Sailor Program. God Bless America and all our armed forces!
